Corporate Responsibility

We seek to define ourselves not just by our desire to make profit but our desire and passion to give back to society and communities. In this spirit, OJP acknowledges that equal access to justice is vital for a fair and equitable society, moreso in the case of indigent persons, nonprofit organizations and in some cases Government Ministries, department and agencies.

Our pro bono commitment is key to who we are, and we strive to be the best there is. Our obligation to pro bono service is as broad based as it is deep. We have no single “signature” undertaking, our program is as varied as the interests of communities, our lawyers and the needs of justice. Our pro bono conceptions reflect our ethics, vision, mission and values; and enhances our awareness of the broader ethical, financial and environmental space we operate.

OJP’s CSR program is shaped by our values and is built on concepts embedded in the culture of our firm. We believe in taking a broader view of our responsibilities and our influence on sustainable development, the environment and local communities. To this end, we support several programmes including:

Partnering with the National Mental Health Steering Committee at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in the annual planning of World Mental Health Day Celebration in Sierra Leone.
Supporting the drafting and review of legislations and regulations;
Sponsoring moot court competitions in universities with law departments across the country;
Supporting advocacy for access to quality education and healthcare for girls and women;
Supporting local organisations involved in poetry and other creative artistic activities;
Supporting government and non-governmental organisations working on wildlife and environmental conservation programmes.
